The Battle is the Lord's
Passage: Judges 4:1-24
One of the greatest sources of a Christian's hope and confidence is knowing the Lord is sovereign and that God works all things together for good, for those who love him, for those who are called according to his purpose." (Romans 8:28) In other words, we can trust the providence of God, even when our situation seems insurmountable. This week we explore Judges 4 and the account of Deborah and Barak. The nation of Israel is in a desperate situation, and we learn the importance of trusting the Lord, because "The Battle is the Lord's." I encourage you to read both Judges 4 and 5, two accounts of the same event; a narrative account in chapter 4 and a poetic account in chapter 5. This compelling historical event is a reminder for each of us to trust the Lord, for the battle is his.
